Hay USA has no control over bale weight or how many bales are loaded at the farm. This is estimated on average loads that come to Hay USA retail location and what our clients receive by the full load on an annual basis.
The bale weights can be between 120# to 145 # on three string bales and from 750# to 1300# on 3'x4'x8' bales. Prices per ton at the stack are market price. Hay prices escalate in the winter season because of the higher cost
of barn stored hay and increased demand! Shipping prices depend on
fuel cost. The best time to buy a semi load is during the summer
season.
We have a very simple formula:

The average load is 20 to 23 tons depending on the weight of the
hay loaded. All bales are three string bales. It is the receiving
ranch's responsibility to off load hay in two hours or a fee is charged
by the shipping company.

Payments and terms:
Hay USA will send samples for your approval on full loads.
All hay is paid for in advance by wire transfer before loading hay
at the farm for all new clients.
Truck access and storage:
It is very important the truck has easy access to the barn and can
enter and exit without hitting gates or trees. You must have a
dry clean space to store the hay. If hand stacking off of a truck
we recommend a barn approximately 50' x 20' x 15'. A concrete floor
is always preferred. It takes 4 to 6 people to off load a truck
even with a tractor.
Steffens Systems:
Off-load hands free way with a Steffens System! We recommend the
5510 model for three string bales and there are more options for
big bales. Hay USA is a Steffens Systems dealer. One person can
off load a truck in one hour with this equipment. It is the perfect
partner with a Toyota forklift. Shoppas Materials and Handling
in Fort Worth, Texas has new and used fork lifts and has experience
setting up the Steffens Systems for us.
Truck sizes:
- 48' flat bed holds 335 to 350 bales and can carry heavy bales.
- 48' drop deck holds up to 378 to 406 and can carry lighter bales
and more of them.
- 53' drop deck holds 406 to 420 very light bales!
Some haulers haul by the ton, some by the mile some by the bale,
we at Hay USA will get you the best rate we can find.
